Best Generation guys like to say that they have all the knowledge. Baby boomers think the Best Generation is too old school. Gen Y thinks Millennials are a bunch of wusses. What's the deal?
Truth is no one knows anything, but everyone thinks they do. Relationships, dating, it's all challenging. And it has been for time immemorial. Everything from shyness to cockiness has been around. People are people and always have been.
Why is it that older generations always claim romantic knowledge? Well, part of it is life experience, which warrants certain bragging rights. But a big part is agist braggadocio. As someone with general reverence for older people, I let them have their fill. And when they want to impart knowledge about dating, I generally listen. Why not? At the very least, you're likely to get a good story or two. I've found there's wisdom, more often than not.
